Autumn in Merano – The Golden Season.

Winter is coming, so recharge your batteries, soak up the sun and enjoy some hiking before the first snow.

Finish off the day by immersing yourself in our heated outdoor pool followed by some downtime and sauna. Experience the perfect autumn holiday at VillaVerde.

The warm days are far from over. You can still enjoy a fabulous breakfast on our terrace, sun yourself in the Alpine meadows, while marvelling at the trees ablaze with autumnal red and gold. Every season in Merano is charming and unique, but autumn has always been a favourite as nature comes alive with glorious colour.

The so called ‘Golden Autumn’ certainly lives up to its name and we can’t wait to show you. Come and see for yourself what the locality has to offer at this time of year.

Törggelen defines autumn in the South Tyrol. Homemade sausage specialities, dumplings, sauerkraut followed by chestnuts (‘Keschtn’) with butter. Not to forget dessert with the famous doughnuts with different fillings. Enjoy an evening of Törggele at 3 local hotspots:

Greiterhof, Merano

Rustic family run inn above Merano, surrounded by meadows and forests.

All the products of the restaurant are homemade and are fresh from selected farms in the South Tyrol.

Traditional dishes and rustic treats, such as doughnuts, Kniakiachl, and Tirtlan are on the menu.

Hilberkeller, Kuens

This is one of the oldest farmstead inns of the Burggrafenamt. While away the time in the cosy historic Steinkeller or unwind in the Panoramagarten, savouring the cool breeze of the Passaier valley.

Expect authentic and home-style cuisine with typical south Tyrolian delicacies, as well as steaks and crispy grilled dishes.

Wiedenplatzerkeller, Naturns

Idyllically situated at the edge of Naturns in Vinschgau, this is a rustic restaurant with traditional flair.

Experience the best in traditional south Tyrol cuisine. The spicy pork ribs and dumpling tris are favourites.

Das Wandern ist des Müllers Lust…

Even if our three rest areas, saunas and heated pool prove too inviting to resist, why not first go for a short hike before unwinding in the sauna. Algund is the perfect point to set out. Whether by foot up to the Algunder Waalweg, under colourful vines or perhaps a little higher?

Partschinser waterfall

Arrival at Partchins and then onto Gasthof Prünster. Hike over the Sagenweg to Tabland and then enjoy the spectacular views on the Forstweg which lies below the precipitous rock faces of the Texel mountains, and then onto beautiful Dursterhof. Return via the Forststraße to the starting point.

Circular hike in the Hirzergebiet

Arrive at Saltaus in Passeier and take the cable car to Klammeben. Hike over the Almenweg to Mahdalm while enjoying the spectacular view over the Texel mountains and Vinschgau. Descend passing the Gompnalm to the Mittelstation and then onto Prenn. Take the cable car back to Saltaus.
